Composition : Each tablet contains Diazepam BP 5 mg.
Indications :• In the treatment of severe anxiety disorders
• In the short term management of insomnia
• In the control of muscle spasm as in tetanus
• As an anticonvulsant particularly in the management of status epilepticus and febrile convulsion
• In the management of alcohol withdrawal symptoms
• As a sedative
Dosage & Administration : Adults :• Management of anxiety disorders and relief of symptoms of anxiety : Depending upon the severity of symptoms 2 mg to 10 mg, 2-4 times daily.
• For the short term management of insomnia associated with anxiety : 5 – 15 mg at bed time.
• Adjunctively for relief of skeletal muscle spasm : 2 mg to 10 mg, 3 or 4 times daily.
• Adjunctively in convulsive disorders : 2 mg to 10 mg, 2 to 4 times daily.
• Symptomatic relief in acute alcohol withdrawal : 10 mg, 3 or 4 times during the first 24 hours reducing to 5 mg 3 or 4 times daily as needed.
• As premedicant before dental or minor surgical or other procedures : 5 to 20 mg as single dose or in divided doses.
Children : Because of varied response to CNS acting drugs, therapy should be initiated with lowest dose and then increases as required. 1 to 2.5 mg, 3 or 4 times daily initially, increases gradually as needed and tolerated.
